Why You Should Moisturize Your Skin

ʽWhy should I moisturize my skin?ʼ Let’s put it this way, living without moisturizing is like wearing a new weave for months without brushing it. To moisturize means to hydrate the topmost layer of the skin. It helps to keep the skin lubricated and protected. You solve the problem of discomfort that comes along with having a dry skin when you moisturize your skin. This is why moisturizing must be part of your skincare routine and must especially be applied after having a shower, this is due to the fact that soap has a way of drying up your skin, absorbing the excess sebum. Particularly, hot water leaves your skin dry and parched by getting out all the oils and moisture from the skin. You also moisturize because you want to smell nice, YES!! Any one will pick and nice smelling skin over a dry skin that doesn’t smell as nice. Therefore, the importance of the use of moisturizer cannot be over-emphasized.

I often get the question ʽwhen do I moisturize?ʼ I’ll advice you moisturize your body two times a day – in the morning and at night. It is also advisable that you moisturize your face/body after washing/bathing, before and after a flight, on a makeup-free day, when the weather is cold (winter) and before applying your makeup.

When you moisturize your skin, there will be a lesser chance of your skin having disorders such as acne and other kinds of breakouts. Moisturizers have a way of toning down to even out different skin tones thereby helping to conceal skin blemishes, making them blend smoothly to the skin. Another reason why moisturizing is important is that it helps you work against that aging look you are scared of having, it helps your face with anti-aging. In the absence of proper moisture, the skin is known to become dehydrated and shrinks, this shrinkage is a major cause/symptom of an aging look.

If you really want that glowing skin, moisturizing is something you have to get used to doing. Moisturizing will not only solve the skin problems mentioned if you have an underlying illness in which case it is  advisable you see the doctor.

Conclusion

I understand that moisturizing your skin as prescribed in this article may seem like a chore, it really is easy. When I started my commitment to moisturizing it seemed hard but soon after, I started seeing results. Never stop moisturizing and your skin will never stop glowing!!
